Surviving In The Mercurial World Of Popular Culture
Ever since bursting onto the music scene in 1998, Britney Spears has been the center of heated controversy. She has broken more boundaries and records than any other female artist, helping to guide pop music from the jean-jacket world of eighties songstress Tiffany to a veritable art form. Four years later the debate continues; does Spears have real staying power? The answer is yes. Skeptics often attribute her massive success to her well-toned midriffs or skimpy cleavage-bearing outfits, but the true source of her success is much deeper, in qualities that will not fade with age. Spears pop culture triumph stems from two things: her ability to evolve alongside the ever-changing phenomenon of pop music and her captivating stage presence.
Spears has made an effortless transition from a teen-pop idol to a full-fledged celebrity by embracing the new urban face of pop music. Many artists have brought upon their own demise, refusing to stray from the quintessential pop beats and sequined mini-skirts that defined the nineties. Spears, however, has allowed popular culture and personal experience to dictate the progression of her music. For her debut album, Spears turned the songwriting honors over to Swedish pop guru Max Martin, among others. She used traditional two-step power ballads as a vehicle to present her talent to the world, realizing that she would soon be able to stray from the beaten path. Her first album sold more than ten million copies, putting her amongst the ranks of some of the centurys most elite and respected artists. In her 1999 follow up album, Spears took a more active role in song writing and production, enlisting the help of Hip Hop mogul Rodney Jerkins and country singer Shania Twain. Instead of male-dependant love ballads, her second album was comprised of world-wise, almost cynical girl-independence anthems.
Record sales show her increasingly jaded and mature sound was well accepted by the public. For her self-titled third album, Spears continued her transition from corporate puppet to independent women, penning more than one-half of the records tracks. Working with revered production duo the Neptunes, Britney crafted a mature, funky sound that embodied her growth as an artist. The songs from Spears third album are littered with sexual references and suggestive groans, alluding to her maturation as a performer. Although the evolution of Spears music from up-beat puppy-love ballads to edgy, provocative Hip-Hop may have compromised some of her pre-teen fans, demographic surveys show it has vastly widened her appeal. Fifty million albums and sixteen number one singles later, it is evident that Spears has what it takes to evolve alongside pop music and, sometimes, even lead the way.
Musical icons ranging from Madonna to Michael Jackson have praised Spears skill as a performer and entertainer, acclaiming her stage presence as captivating and awe-inspiring. Critics who condemn Spears music as unremarkable and drab often find themselves searching blindfolded for her key to success. It is primarily Spears skill as a spellbinding entertainer, and not as a musician, that has secured her a place in popular culture. In a historical perspective, it is helpful to compare Spears to Frank Sinatra. A talented performer and television personality, it was Sinatras skill as an entertainer, and not as a musician, that made him one of the most honored celebrities of the century. Many things contribute to Spears stage presence. Unlike many of her contemporaries who perform glued to a stool, Spears moves about the stage in elaborate dance moves and gymnastics. She uses unique, and often minimal, costumes to accent her physique. Yet it is ultimately her confidence and radiant on-stage persona that allow her to upstage all others.
Britney Spears clearly has what it takes to survive in the mercurial world of popular culture. If pop music went by the wayside and rock took center stage, Spears would be able to alter her image to remain center stage in the entertainment business. She has already demonstrated her versatility as a comedian on Saturday Night Live, as a dramatic actress in her debut film Crossroads and, of course, as a talented singer and entertainer. Spears proven ability to evolve with popular culture and her supremely confident stage presence have cemented her into popular culture; Britney Spears is here to stay.

Britney Gets Behind The Wheel
Pop sensation Britney Spears had the "Experience of a Lifetime" at the Richard Petty Driving Experience at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Wednesday night.
Spears and a group of friends and associates spent Wednesday night turning fast laps around LVMS' 1.5-mile Superspeedway. The program included an eight-lap driving experience followed by a ride along and two more 11-lap driving experiences. In all, Spears logged more than 30 laps around the speedway.
"I'm just racing cars. I'm doing research for my movie," Spears said. Spears is expected to play the leading role as the daughter of a NASCAR team owner in a feature film, which is scheduled to begin filming sometime next year.
After completing the four-hour program, Spears said she had gained a new perspective for auto racing.
"I didn't realize the extent to which race car drivers have to go through," Spears said. "I think its cool. I'll have a different perspective now when I see it on TV."
In 1998, Spears became the first female recording artist to have a simultaneous American Billboard No. 1 single and album with a debut release of "Baby One More Time". Spears has released three albums including "Baby One More Time", "OopsI Did It Again" and "Britney".
Spears has performed at several special events including Superbowl XXXV and the 2000 Billboard Music Awards in which she also received an award.

Justin Knocks Britney'S Movie Debut
*NSYNC frontman Justin Timberlake has attacked his ex-girlfriend Britney Spears for making her debut movie Crossroads - insisting she should never have starred in it.
The 21-year-old pop hunk, whose romance with the curvaceous blonde dissolved earlier this year, admits that despite his praise for Britney's involvement in the film at the time of its release, he always knew it wasn't the right
movie for her.
He says, "If she had a clue, she wouldn't have made that movie.
"I mean everybody knows that what she should have made was Pretty In Pink."
Timberlake, who makes the comments in the December issue of Details Magazine, goes on to blame the 20-year-old singer's handlers for pushing her
into a project with a "sub-par" plot.
He also says that some of the people who work for her are out for themselves, branding them a "soap opera/horror movie."

like i said earlier my site builder has been going slow and it still is but its gong faster than befor so I will update now. first of all i wish I could put up more pictures but I unfortunatly cant at this moment and ts really annoying.... any way im also looking fo a new host so if you know any good ones please email me britneysmine14@juno.com it would be a big help because I can now see why alot of people perfer not to use tripod and I cant blkame them. since I 100% sure that Im going to switch hosts Ill make sure that this site is still updated up to the realese of a brand new site under a different host. so i will contine with the updates thanks for listening to my site plans thanks -phillip
Rumor: Britney To Play Judy Jetson In Screen Adaptation
This is the rumor I think people have been talking about but haven't really been sure what they've been talking about, lol, including me... ;) According to film site DarkHorizons.com, a pretty reliable source when it gets to knowing the latest on upcoming movies say The Bristol Herald-Courier indicates Britney Spears is under consideration to play 'Judy Jetson' in the big screen adaptation of famous cartoon 'The Jetsons'.

Rumor: Britney To Appear In Jamie-Lynn Music Video
It has been reported that Jamie Lynn recorded a cover of Cyndi Lauper's ''Girls Just wanna have fun' with Triple Image. Jamie Lynn sings in the second verse. At a recent interview Triple Image announced that Jamie Lynn, along with her sister, Britney Spears will cameo in the video.

I finally figured out how to do what I wanted to do with the pictures section but for some unknown reason my site builder is going really slow and freezing, I have talked to other tripod site owners and they said they were having the same problems so if this keeps up the picture section wont be up until the end of the week instead of today. im sorry for the inconvience bye.
Britney Spears Comes Up Short Of $2 Parking Bill
Globe magazine reports Britney Spears recently tried to exit the Beverly Center in Los Angeles but only had $1 to pay the required $2 fee. She tried to smile her way out of it, but the stern cashier just stood there with her hand opened. Britney dug around for change but to no avail. Finally, the lady sighed, "All right, I'll let you slide this time." Britney thanked her by returning later with $2.

Rumor: Britney To Become Animated Cartoon Series On Disney
Uhm...I heard a rumor that Britney was going to get her own action/adventure animated series on the Disney channel. Apparently this rumor came from a radio station in Chicago. I'm sure it's nothing, but, let's just say for a second that she did get an animated series, I would seriously die :) I hope it doesn't happen.

Britney Tops FHM's Sexiest Lingerie Moment List
In the December 2002 issue of FHM, Britney Spears is #1 on the list of The Top 20 Sexiest Lingerie Moments of All Time. The magazine comments, "When Britney finally sheds her clothes to reveal a heartbreakingly skimpy lingerie/G-string emsemble for a sexed-up version of 'Oops! ... I Did It Again', the whole teenage girl-next-door thing goes out the window and the news becomes official: Britney is a woman! Which is just a polite way of saying 'She's fair game,' or 'Thank you, dear Lord, for answering our most heartfelt prayers.'"
